Sir Laurence Muir

Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute is honoured to remember Sir Laurence Muir in perpetuity.

The Sir Laurence Muir Career Development Fund will advance and encourage the professional development of the greatest asset of both Baker IDI and the Australian research sector as a whole - our talented researchers.

The Fund will be invested in perpetuity, and its annual income will support the career development of the Institute’s most gifted scientists. The fund will ensure that promising researchers are able to reach their full potential by providing support to;

  • Travel and undertake sabbaticals in other laboratories either within Australia or overseas, providing researchers with opportunities for collaboration and skills training
  • Participate in relevant conferences, enabling scientists to share their research at a national or international level
  • Host a researcher who is a leader in a relevant field within Baker IDI, thereby fostering information and skills sharing amongst the Australian scientific community.
