Bright Sparks Fellowships
The Bright Sparks Post-doctoral Fellowship serves to enhance the research career of a newly independent scientist.
This fellowship provides a gifted, early career scientist with an entry point into medical research, their chosen career, here, in Australia.
It also enables a recent graduate with the opportunity to hold a tenured position which may last for as long as three years and affords the individual an income of $75,000 per annum.
By retaining talent at the early post-doctoral level, Baker IDI ensures that this individual will play an integral role in its ongoing research program.
Highly prized, a Bright Sparks Fellowship is regarded as an elite award in the scientific and medical research community.

The awarding of a Bright Sparks Fellowship enables us to recruit and retain the most gifted scientific talent. These Bright Sparks are given the opportunity to carry out innovative research which helps us to achieve our mission to create the pre-eminent international research resource in the fight against cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Our commitment to Birght Sparks Fellowship supporters:
- Fellowship will be established in the name of your choosing (perhaps in honour of someone special)
- Meet the recipient of your fellowship
- Provide annual research reports on the progress of this emerging scientist
- Extend to you invitations to Baker IDI functions and events
- Recognition opportunities will include acknowledgement in our Annual Report, on our website, and other means as appropriate and agreed
- All recognition opportunities are commensurate with investment.
