FlexIT
The Institute’s diabetes education team of qualified and experienced diabetes nurse educators, dietitians and a counsellor are dedicated to delivering specialised services and support to people with diabetes.
Our FlexIT program is an advanced education program provided for people with type 1 diabetes. This program is designed for those on intensive insulin therapy and covers matching insulin requirements to lifestyle. During this 2 day program clients are taught to match their insulin dose to their food on a meal by meal basis. This allows greater flexibility with the timing and type of meals consumed thereby reducing the need for extra snacks, extra carbohydrate or supper in the evening.
Topics include:
- Diabetes monitoring and targets
- Carbohydrate counting
- Alcohol and diabetes
- Insulin adjustment for food and exercise
- Hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia / sick day management.

(Cost includes one individual review appointment with both a Diabetes Educator and Dietitian upon completion of the 2 day program)
