Programs for people with Type 1 Diabetes

FlexIT (Flexible Insulin Therapy)

This program is designed for people on intensive insulin therapy, empowering participants to be able to match insulin requirements to lifestyle.

During this three week program (one day and two evenings), participants will learn to match their insulin dose to their food on a meal by meal basis.

This allows greater flexibility with the timing and type of meals consumed during the day, thereby reducing the need for extra snacks, extra carbohydrate or supper in the evening.

Pump (Insulin pre-pump education sessions)

Pump 1 - To pump or not to pump

Insulin pump therapy involves the use of a small electronic device delivering rapid acting insulin on a continuous basis without the need for regular injections.

Insulin pump therapy offers a number of benefits including a reduction in blood sugar fluctuations, improvement in HbA1c levels, greater flexibility and improved quality of life. However, insulin pump therapy is not suitable for everyone.

This introductory information session is designed to assist participants in making an informed decision about commencing insulin pump therapy.

Pump 2 - Getting ready to pump

This interactive session will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to commence insulin pump therapy.

Programs for people with Type 2 Diabetes

Balance (A type 2 diabetes management program)
